Lackawaxen River Guided Trips
(April 1 - June 15, Oct 1 - Feb 15)
A modified tailwater. The lower 10 miles of the Wax produces hatches that can rival its neighbor the Delaware. This large waterway supports some natural reproduction but is heavily stocked multiple times throughout the year and a good portion of those fish hold over. By far the best stocked stream in the region. The lower river also holds some sizeable smallmouth. Keep an eye on the water level, hydro releases from Lake Wallenpaupack cause it to fluctuate frequently.

Because it's stocked by the state, there is a closed period on the Lackawaxen, from mid-February to the first Saturday in April. The river can stay cool enough during the summer months to support those holdover fish, but daily generation releases start around 8am, limiting fishing time to just a couple hours at first light and a couple hours before dark. Spring is its shining season, as great hatches can be found, water releases are limited during the week and off on the weekends. There's another nice window starting the first week of October when the river receives its fall stocking. Crowds are light and the scenery is beautiful!
